JAPELAS: Supporting Japanese Polite Expressions Learning Using PDA(s) Toward Ubiquitous Learning

ثبت نشده
چکیده

It is very difficult for overseas students to learn Japanese polite expressions because these expressions change in a complicated manner according to context, for instance, hyponymy, social distance, and the formality of the conversational situation. Moreover, the notion of social distance in Japan often differs from that in the learner's country. This difference may result in misunderstanding by overseas students. Therefore, it is very important for Japanese language learners to learn the social situation in Japan in order to use polite expressions properly. We have implemented a personal digital assistant (PDA)-based language-learning support system for Japanese polite expressions learning, called Japanese polite expressions learning assisting system (JAPELAS).

Supporting the acquisition of Japanese polite expressions in context-aware ubiquitous learning

It is very difficult for the overseas students to learn Japanese polite expression (JPE) during their course of learning the Japanese language. In this paper, in order to support the foreigners learning JPEs anywhere anytime, we propose a ubiquitous language-learning environment which works without any input of the context information. In the traditional Japanese class, learners only learn the ...

JAMIOLAS2: supporting Japanese mimetic words and onomatopoeia learning with wireless sensor networks for overseas students

This paper proposes an improved context-aware language supported system for learning Japanese mimetic words and onomatopoeia (MIO) using wireless sensor network “MOTE”. In our previous work, a learner wears sensors so that the system provides the appropriate MIO expressions at his/her place. In this current system called JAMIOLAS (Supporting Japanese Mimetic words and Onomatopoeia Learning with...

TANGO: Supporting Vocabulary Learning with RFID tags

This paper describes a computer-assisted language learning (CALL) in a ubiquitous computing environment. The environment, called TANGO (Tag Added learNinG Objects) system, detects the objects around the learner using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags, and provides the learner the right information for language learning. This system supports learning in daily life with PDA (personal dig...
